Networking is an invaluable professional and life skill. Along with building relationships and creating new business contacts, networking opens you up to fresh points of view, knowledge and opportunities. Networking can seem overwhelming. With the ever-expanding Internet landscape, multiple social media platforms and (let's not forget) traditional face-to-face interactions, it can be tough to know where to start. Networking evangelist Margaret Resce Milkint, managing partner of The Jacobson Group, will be teaching a highly interactive session complete with networking tips, best practices and ample time to role-play and network with other participants. Topics include perfecting the elevator speech, techniques for giving and receiving business cards, integrating social media into your networking strategy and developing a professional brand. Milkint will also touch on hot topics such as dispelling the actuarial myth and capitalizing on the health care reform buzz. The teaching session will be followed by a panel of star industry networkers, who will pull from their personal experiences to share stories of success and how they overcome those inevitable bumps along the way. Stay for the reception to further develop business connections and practice networking skills!

At the conclusion of the session, attendees will be able to:
• Present an engaging elevator speech
• Uncover proper techniques for offering and receiving business cards
• Incorporate social networking into an overall networking strategy
• Create a powerful professional brand image.
