Lon is a native of Florida. Born in Clearwater on the West Coast he attended the University of Florida and graduated with a degree in Advertising/Marketing. His first career was in the Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations industry.

After 10 years of agency work he joined Hallmark Cards, Inc. in the Field Marketing division training sales personnel in a twenty-two state area.

In 1982 he moved to Kansas City to Hallmark’s corporate headquarters where he developed and successfully launched the company’s first National Retail Advertising program for its network of 22,000 retailers.

In 1986 Lon left Hallmark to follow his passion for food and entertainment. Lane & Company, a marketing consulting firm was founded to helped individuals develop private and corporate catering businesses in the Kansas City Market area.

In 1991 Lon started The Catering Company an upscale event planning and off premise catering company serving Kansas City’s most prominent citizens and Corporations. In 2007 the Company was renamed Lon Lane’s Inspired Occasions.

Lon is currently Chairman of the International Caterer’s Association Educational Foundation is a past member of the Board of Directors of The International Caterer’s Association and he has served as The Culinary Council liaison to the board.

He develops educational programs for the general ICA membership and other trade organizations. Lon was listed as an Honored Professional in the 1999-2000 edition of Nationwide Register’s Who’s Who in Executives and Businesses.

Lon contributes educational articles to various trade publications and presents educational seminars at numerous trade expos including Event Expo, ICA conferences, Mike Roman’s Catersource and the New York Restaurant Show.
