Jack Milan, CEO of Different Tastes in Boston, has thirty five years of experience in the catering and restaurant business. He began his career with an MBA from Loyola University in Chicago as a consultant in data processing and segued into the restaurant business where, within six months, he had two successful restaurants.
Thirty years ago, he founded Different Tastes and has established it as one of the premier catering companies in the Boston area as well as an internationally recognized catering firm known for its extraordinary food, innovation, creativity, attention to detail, attentive service and the ability to overcome any challenge presented.
A self taught chef/designer, Jack is known for his creativity and willingness to step outside the box to create cutting edge food and design trends. He is also one of the most popular speakers at the Catersource conference as well as the New York Restaurant Show, the National Restaurant Show and many others.
Over the years, Different Tastes and Jack have won numerous awards, locally and internationally, for all aspects of the business, including three-time ‘Caterer of the Year’ awards and nine CATIE awards. Jack is particularly proud to be one of only five recipients in thirty years of the John Mossman award, given by the International Caterers Association, for his contribution, dedication and service to the catering industry.
Different Tastes has catered events for such diverse companies and individuals as Disney, Lotus, IBM, Lexus, BankBoston, Fleet Bank, Versace, Cole Haan, Dolce & Gabbana, Shreve, Crump & Low, Georgetown University, Biogen, General Motors, Harvard, Radcliffe, President Clinton, John Kerry, John Edwards and MIT as well as numerous high profile social events and weddings.
Jack is Past President of the Boston Wedding Group, Past Board member and, currently, Honorary Board member and Director of Education for the International Caterers Association and a member in good standing of National Association of Catering Executives, Leading Caterers of America, International Special Events Society, Greater Boston Visitors and Convention Bureau and the Mass. Restaurant Association. .
This past year, Jack has established three new companies:
Edibles By Jack, a distributor of unique food products for caterers and restaurants, featuring his award-winning and trend setting, edible Asian spoons, as well as lines of gluten-free baked goods and organic items.
Boston’s Picnic Company, picnic and barbecue catering in collaboration with Meryl and Andy Snow of Feastivities Catering in Philadelphia, PA.
MAJIC Marketing LLC, established in partnership with Meryl and Andy Snow as a virtual marketing firm offering an ‘instant’ picnic and barbecue concept to all caterers.
