Joyce Scardina Becker: Events of Distinction is magnanimously led by Joyce Scardina Becker, a celebrated wedding expert with over 25 years of event management experience, strengthened with professional credentials as a Certified Wedding Consultant (CWC), Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) and Certified Floral Designer (CFD). A combination interior, floral and event designer extraordinaire, Joyce has captivated hundreds of clients and thousands of guests with her unparalleled productions.

Joyce is the author of Countdown to Your Perfect Wedding, a groundbreaking “how-to” book for couples and event professionals, which received an “Esprit de Corps Award” from the International Special Events Society for “Best Industry Contribution.” Published by St. Martin’s Press, Countdown to Your Perfect Wedding is broken down into 52 chapters for each week of yearlong planning process, giving readers valuable information that they need to know, when they need to know it.

Joyce is the Founding President of the Wedding Industry Professionals Association (WIPA), the first national non-profit (Section 51c6) trade association created specifically for providers of wedding products and services. Its mission is to advance the wedding profession, enhance the professional growth of its members, uphold the highest ethics, and educate the public about qualified specialists. Members champion four core values – knowledge, integrity, quality and education – thereby delivering the best business practices to their clients and each other.

Joyce is the Founding Director and Instructor of the Wedding Planner Certificate Program, which is offered annually at California State University East Bay. Endorsed by the International Special Events Society, this intensive 4-hour program was the first of its kind established on a university campus, providing a comprehensive education for students who wish to pursue a professional career in wedding management.

Joyce received her Bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University, where she excelled in Hospitality Management and Education. At City College of San Francisco, she earned a prestigious degree in Retail Floristry and mastered the art of design, color and texture. To sharpen her skills and keep current, Joyce has been an active member of the International Special Events Society since 1993, serving as Vice President of Education for its Northern California Chapter, in 1996, 1997, 1998, 2002, 2003 and 2004.
