What is the single most important thing attendees discover at your session?
You will learn the key ingredients in creating a killer event marketing program that will get people talking and tweeting about your (client’s) brand.

What do you believe is the greatest innovation to affect the events industry in the past year?
The digital evolution has absolutely changed the way we experience the world and therefore experience marketing campaigns. Today events are about engaging the attendee on multiple levels – both physical and digital – making a connection to the brand that exists long after the event.

Where do you find inspiration?
When I go to a show, I watch the fans rather than the band. I have a voracious curiosity about what makes consumers tick. I’m able to find inspiration every single day by just observing the people around me. As a result, I’m able to find very creative ways to get big budget results on a dime, but being observant and rethinking everything.

What excites you most about the year ahead in the events industry or your personal business?
We are going into another year of more controlled budgets which actually is exciting to me. Rather than throw money at a campaign, it is more interesting to find strategic ways to bring in the online world to an event, to access the power of the audience, and to make a real connection. We are living and working in an era where movements, events and ideas start at the grass roots. That’s exciting and alive with potent. For event marketers like me, it’s a rich area in which to explore.

What is the best piece of business advice you’ve ever been given?
It wasn’t really a piece of advice, but a way of thinking – the marketer with the biggest budget isn’t the one who wins anymore. This underlines my event marketing philosophy to a tee. It’s about creativity, authenticity, connection, and engagement.
