What is the single most important thing attendees discover at your session?
Attendees will be exposed to a completely different business model than they are used to – events that are positively impacted by a challenged economy, rather than negatively and that are designed to drive sales in a very impactful and measurable way.
What do you believe is the greatest innovation to affect the events industry in the past year?
Social media – from facebook to youtube to proprietary networking sites, the opportunity to connect with present and future customers is unprecedented.
Where do you find inspiration?
Absolutely everywhere and the good thing is that when I see something great, whether it is a commercial, at a concert, part of a festival, a youtube video, or even a store display, we are lucky enough to have the resources and finances to support it if it makes sense from a business standpoint; in other words if it will drive sales and/or inspire and/or motivate and/or recognize achievement.
What excites you most about the year ahead in the events industry or your personal business?
We are launching a virtual event web site to replace our traditional event web sites so the opportunity to connect with our constituencies before, during, and after our events is like never before.
What is the best piece of business advice you’ve ever been given?
“If you are not criticized, you are likely not doing much.”

In her worldwide events capacity, Margaret oversees the Los Angeles-based company’s international events, incentives and vacations, which serve more than 125,000 delegates and distributors annually and take place in a dozen different countries each year.
She previously managed PGI’s (now TBA Global Events) worldwide technology events as group vice president after managing the company’s San Francisco destination management office for four years. Her prior career spans more than 20 years of progressive experience in event, tradeshow and conference marketing and management for a variety of industries including technology, fashion, beauty, footwear, direct and database marketing, and printing.
