Session #164
Howard Givner
Executive Director
Event Leadership Institute, Scarsdale, NY
Back by popular demand, Howard Givner reprises some of the key elements of his standing-room-only class on pricing, and introduces new content as well. Planners by nature may be very creative and detail oriented, and they may even be great at managing their clients' event budgets, but they're often uncomfortable managing their own. In this class we'll review the major pricing models to choose from, and help you identify which is best for you, and for a given type of client. We'll also tackle the slippery topic of commissions and share advice on how best to integrate them into your model if you so choose. Finally, we'll spend time discussing the importance of understanding and explaining your value to clients, which is critical regardless of what method you choose.
DELIVERABLES:
• Learn about major pricing methods for event planners.
• Understand the pros and cons of each method, which types of clients they appeal to, and advice for implementing each one.
• Learn a step-by-step way to calculate your fees.
• Find out more about the difference between a commission and a kickback, and what to watch out for when accepting commissions.
