Mary Abbott Hess, LHD, MS, RD, LD, FADA, is a partner in Culinary Nutrition Associates. She has served as Chairman of the National Board of The American Institute of Wine & Food, an organization founded by Julia Child and Robert Mondavi as well as a President of The American Dietetic Association (ADA), the world’s largest organization of dietitians. She has received numerous national awards for her work and is the author of nine books, most recently Essentials of Nutrition for Chefs, released in November 2010.
Currently, Mary teaches nutrition at the Washburne Culinary Institute and the McCormick Boys & Girls Club in Chicago. In her consulting practice, speaking engagements, and volunteer and professional leadership positions, she educates the public, health professionals and chefs how to select and prepare food that is both great tasting and healthful.
